Good ideas need people.

As president of National Society of Black Engineers, I lead a team and help turn shared ideas into action. The role gives me an opportunity to build community and contribute to something larger than my own work.

Leading with structure

Since January 2026, I’ve managed an 11-member executive board serving 30+ chapter members, organized professional development events with Accenture and Clearwater Security, and led finance-team outreach supporting $5,000+ in sponsorships.

I also created a five-stage event-planning guide covering ownership, deadlines, budgets, readiness checks, and follow-up, and introduced officer-led events.

How I approach leadership

I value strong communication and real human connection. I want the people I work with to feel heard, understand what we’re working toward, and have room to contribute.

Building an apparel company required communication across creative work, manufacturing, and launch planning. A detailed tech pack helped me translate a vision into requirements a manufacturer could act on.

The experience reinforced why I like managing a workflow: connecting people and decisions so an idea can become a finished product.
